Jacqueline M. Metcalf
SARASOTA, Fla. — Jacqueline M. “Jackie” Metcalf, 68, of Sarasota, Fla., died Tuesday, July 31, 2012.
Jackie was born March 28, 1944. She was a past president of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary, Post 31 in Rutland, Vt. She was very proud to be an American. Jackie was a nurse for more than 42 years and relocated to Sarasota after an early retirement from Rutland Regional Medical Center. She then finished her nursing career in long-term care while in Sarasota.
Her children were her life as were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Jackie loved Florida but missed her home in Vermont.
She is survived by her daughters, Robin Iliopoulos of Springfield and Laura Cleaves of Concord; her son, Bert Metcalf Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; her sisters, Phyllis Blanchard of Castleton, Vt., Sally Rose of Windsor and Pam Benjamin of Edmonton, Ky.; her brothers, Sedric Erskine III of Windsor, Sencal Erskine of Springfield and Ronald Erskine of Wells River, Vt.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are by Toale Brothers Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 31 in Rutland, Vt.
