NEWPORT — Two highly deserving individuals were honored at the 2017 Lake Sunapee VNA Annual Meeting on March 7 at the Sugar River Bank Community Room in Newport.

Claudia Lewis received the “Joanne Hughes Volunteer Excellence Award” for her incredible commitment to The Renaissance Shoppe for more than 10 years, dedicating as many as 25 hours per week doing everything from setting up displays to thanking donors.

Beth Eldridge, RN Case Manager, received the “Imagine the Possibilities Staff Award” for quietly, competently and compassionately caring for members of the community and supporting her fellow staff as a member of the agency’s caregiving team for more than eight years.

More than 80 attendees were also treated to an engaging presentation by Dr. Alan Kono of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Heart & Vascular Center.  Dr. Kono spoke on “The Role of Palliative Care in the Treatment of Advanced Cardiac Disease.”

He stressed the importance of discussing and including palliative care measures much sooner in an individual’s disease process, which is a strength of the Lake Sunapee VNA Palliative Care Team.  For more information about palliative care or any of our many important services, please call (603) 526-4077.
