Harold F. Bartley
NEWPORT — Harold F. Bartley, 91, of Whitcher Road in Newport, New Hampshire, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont following a period of failing health.
He was born in South Reading, Vermont on Jan. 15, 1926 the son of Viola Grave Bartley, and had been a longtime area resident. Harold was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in World War II.
He had been employed as a mechanic by John English Motors in Massachusetts and Paul Thibault in Claremont, New Hampshire. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, going to auctions, boxing and keeping up to date on current events. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Newport, New Hampshire.
Members of his family include his former wife, Patricia Bartley, Newport, New Hampshire; five sons, Bruce Bartley, Charlestown, New Hampshire; Bryan Bartley, Newport, New Hampshire; Richard Thibault, Montana; William Thibault, Bradford, New Hampshire; Thomas Thibault, Montana; three daughters, Shawnee Caruso, St. Johnsbury, Vermont; Sherial Ramey, Salem, New Hampshire; Grace Allen, Unity, New Hampshire; many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on April 1, 2017 at the Lake Sunapee Baptist Church, 322 North Main St., Newport, New Hampshire. Committal Services with military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Main Street, Claremont, New Hampshire.
