Paul Marro

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Paul Marro, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

He was born March 1, 1940, in Claremont, to the late Carminie and Mary (Cillo) Marro. Paul graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont in 1958 and from the University of New Hampshire in 1963, where he played on the football and lacrosse teams and developed many lifelong friendships with his teammates.

Paul was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army as a Captain, where he earned several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. The discipline and patriotism Paul learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.

Paul was the owner of Carmo Auto Parts and Carmo Gifts in Louisville and retired in 2010. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Louisville, the Knights of Columbus, he was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Masonic Lodge #266, a proud member of the Kosair Shriners and also a member of the VFW and American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marion Marro; five brothers, Anthony, Dominic, Charles, Joseph and Nicholas Marro. Paul is survived by his brother, Albert Marro and his wife Alberta; his three sisters, Madeline Barbieri, Katherine Moore and Carmella Tenney and her husband William. Also by three sisters-in-law, Arline Marro, Cecile Marro and Roberta Marro, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Paul's quick wit, love of history and his zest for life will be missed by his family and friends.

As he wished, Paul was inurned at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at Fort Knox, Kentucky on June 29, 2017.

A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Joseph Church in Claremont, followed by a reception in St. Joseph Hall.
