Auditions open for 'The Hobbit'

CLAREMONT — Stevens High School, Claremont Opera House and World Under Wonder are collaborating to bring the production of the classic tale by J.R.R. Tolkien, “The Hobbit,” to the Claremont Opera House at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4.

This show will be directed by Larissa Cahill from Stevens High School, student Hannah Lane McFadden and Sean Edward Roberts from World Under Wonder.

Auditions are held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 and  Friday, Sept. 15, at Stevens High School. Enter through the doors on the side of the building “the gym” and follow the signs. Please come to auditions prepared to do cold reads from the script along with an acting exercise. Auditions are open to those 8 to 18 (or still in high school) from anywhere, not just Claremont youth. They are also looking for those interested in being backstage for the show, doing lights, sound, set and the like.

Practices will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Stevens High School and you will be expected to be there on the nights your scenes occur.

Tickets for each show will be $5 and available at the Opera House Box Office, from cast members and at the door on the night of the show. For more information, send an email to worldunderwonder@gmail.com or office@claremontoperahouse.org.
