Muggy and very hot

Yes, indeed, Sullivan County and all of New Hampshire got to enjoy a heat wave over the weekend with three straight days with high temperatures reaching into the 90's. The package also included very high humidity, which shot the heat index well over100 in several southern New Hampshire communities.

On all three days Hampton Beach attracted thousands of swimmers looking to enjoy the cooling ocean waters. Air conditioners throughout the state got a three-day workout Friday, Saturday and Sunday before the weather turned cooler heading into Monday.

After a dry spell of several days, rain came along with much lower temperature readings on Monday and that rain continued through the night and into the daylight hours on Tuesday. It was most welcome by folks with backyard vegetable gardens and others with flowers and thirsty grass.
