The center is hosting an AARP Driver Safety Course on Wednesday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for nonmembers. Space for this course is limited and you can reserve your spot with payment. Cars have changed. So have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads we travel every day. Some drivers have never looked back since they got their first driver’s licenses, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills. By taking a driver safety course, they will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. Lunch will be available for purchase at the center or you can bring your own.
Ongoing activities at the center include multiple Bone Builders programs (six classes a week) and Intro to Basic Tai Chi for fall prevention (on Friday mornings from 9-9:45 a.m.). We also offer a more advanced Tai Chi course on Thursdays from 12:15-1 p.m. Please contact instructor Susan Williams 376-5173 for more information. Treadmills and exercise bikes are available for use during center hours. Chair caning meets Mondays at 1 p.m. If you have a chair that needs repair or would like to learn the art of chair caning, please stop by! The Knit and Stitch group meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. They can help you finish a project, repair an item and even take on special projects such as baby blankets and gifts. Nickel Bingo is held every Tuesday starting at 12:30 p.m. with 20 games played. The Gad about Girls are taking the winter off but will start meeting again in March.
With winter weather now upon us, please remember that if the WNESU School system is closed due to inclement weather, so are we!
