Protecting a sewer main

Erosion of the river bank by Twistback Road jeopardized a sewage main. The 36” pipe, which goes under the Sugar River, carries about two thirds of Claremont’s waste. During the winter an ice jam occurred at the site and the city DPW reinforced the bank with tons of rock.
