Barbara Garey ASCUTNEY, Vt. — Barbara Garey, 84, passed quietly at Sullivan County Health Care in Unity, New Hampshire, on Feb. 19, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on Aug. 16, 1936. Barbara raised her three children by herself. She worked 30 years at Tambrands in Claremont, New Hampshire. She loved music, dancing and camping. She enjoyed her grandchildren immeasurably. She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Herbert Garey of Ascutney, Vermont; her children, Deborah Pelton of Ascutney, Vermont, and Cynthia Parker of Lebanon, New Hampshire; her brothers and sisters, Mary Bishop of Marion, Ohio, Howard Richards of Charlestown, New Hampshire, Jim Richards of Claremont, New Hampshire, Jane Turner of Oregon, and Shirley Elder. She has seven grandchildren, Joshua Pelton of Francestown, New Hampshire, Nick Pelton of Springfield, Vermont, Erica Parker of Lebanon, New Hampshire, Corey Parker of New York, Lucas Rapp of Springfield, Vermont, Justin Parker of Oregon and Alek Parker of Pittsfield, Vermont. She has four great-grandchildren, Levi Parker, Jaxon Parker, Roewen Deyo and Estelle Pelton. She was predeceased by her son, Alan Parker; her sister, Carol Stevens; and her brother, Skip Nugent. A memorial service will be held March 6 at 11 a.m. at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St. in Claremont, New Hampshire, with Rev. Michael Boy, pastor of the Ascutney Union Church, officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in the Weathersfield Bow Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral home and Garey family ask all attending the service to abide with all regulations and please wear a mask and use social distancing.
