Carleen A. Suojanen NEWPORT — Carleen A. Suojanen, 71, of Sand Hill Road in Newport, New Hampshire, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2020, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire, following a period of failing health. She was born in Newport, New Hampshire, on Oct. 14, 1948, the daughter of Carlon and Marguerita (Stevens) LaFountain, and had been a lifetime area resident. She was a graduate of Stevens High School and later attended River Valley Community College. Carleen had been employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Newport Hospital and later worked for Elm Terrace assisting disadvantaged clients. She enjoyed sewing and used to help her friend, Ruth L’Heureux, with alterations in her spare time. Members of her family include her husband, Thomas Suojanen, Newport, New Hampshire; a son, Briand Suojanen and wife Alison, Brambleton, Virginia; a granddaughter, Lillian Powers-Suojanen; and a sister, Sandra Smith, Claremont, New Hampshire. Due to the pandemic, there will be no services at this time. Once the pandemic restrictions are lifted, the family will plan a Celebration of Life.
