Eliane D. Whitney CLAREMONT — Eliane D. Whitney, 91, of Claremont, passed away on Sept. 27, 2019. She was born in Istanbul, Turkey, on Aug. 29, 1928, the daughter of Antoine and Corinne (Caloteo) Daleggio. She graduated from French Parochial School, Istanbul, Turkey. Eliane worked for Ottoman Bank for six years before marrying Douglas Whitney in 1951. They lived in Hingham, Massachusetts, for a few years before making Claremont their home in 1956. Eliane worked as a supervisor for the checklist of Ward 1 and a secretary for NARFE. She is survived by her sons, Douglas Whitney and wife Nancy of Surry, and Scott Whitney and wife Lois of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Tanda Brown, Katherine and Justin Whitney; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Cameron Brown and Aria Whitney. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and a brother, Freddy Daleggio. A graveside service will be held at the family plot in West Claremont Burying Grounds in Claremont on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society, P.O.
