Elizabeth (O'Brien) Ward CHARLESTOWN — Elizabeth (O'Brien) Ward died Sept. 7, 2019. She was born in Rockingham, Vermont, on May 10, 1917, to Katherine (Hennessey) and Hugh F. O'Brien. She attended school in Bellows Falls and Northeastern College in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1940, she married Ralph Ward. They had five children, Jean Anderson, Mary who died at birth, Ralph (Susan), Kathleen (Wilfred) Boutin and Thomas (Kelliye). She had 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; nephews James and Steve Kingsley; many cousins and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Ralph; child Mary; and sister Claire Kingsley. She had been a communicant at St. Catherine's Church since moving to Charlestown in 1943. In 2016, she received the Boston Post Cane which has been hanging in the selectman's office. A special thanks to Mary St. Pierre for her assistance and wonderful care during the past four years. In lieu of flowers, please remember the Charlestown Ambulance Service or St. Catherine's Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date.
