Gladys Wright NEWPORT — Gladys Wright, 94, passed away after a brief illness peacefully with family by her side on the evening of Jan 6, 2023, at New London Hospital. Gladys was born Dec 31, 1928, in Boston, MA to Joseph and Lillian (Goodrich) Waugh. She leaves behind her husband of 23 years, Gordon Woffenden of Newport, NH, her son Bill Wright and his wife Elaine of Milan, NH, her daughter Paula Wright-Cote of Sunapee, NH, and several grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William G. Wright in 1990. Gladys had many occupations throughout her long life, including the US Post Office, Librarian, Property Management and Elderly Care, amongst many others. Her numerous passions included time spent at the ocean, reading, her many cats and dogs she loved through life, attending gas engine shows with Gordon, and being a wonderful Mom, a great neighbor, an endearing friend, and a decent loving person. She was bold, and always stuck to her beliefs, not one to suffer fools lightly, she let you know where she stood. Per her request, there will be no calling hours. Gladys will be laid to rest next to her sweetheart, William, in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Newport NH, at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to a local animal shelter. Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
