Roger LaCroix

NEWPORT and LEBANON — Roger F. (Buddy) LaCroix, 75, passed away at New London Hospital on Sunday Feb. 10, 2019, surrounded by his friends and family. Buddy was born on June 29, 1943 in Lebanon, the second of two children to Robert and Marjorie (Jardine) LaCroix. Buddy graduated from West Lebanon High School in 1961. In June 1961 he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in September 1965. In 1966 he was hired as a patrolman with the Lebanon Police Department where he progressed to the rank of Captain/Bureau Commander. He retired from the department in December 1990 after 25 years of service.

Buddy was predeceased by his wife Ellen M. (Fleury) LaCroix in 2015, mother Marjorie Valentini, step mother Colleen LaCroix, father Robert LaCroix, stepfather Dante Valentini, both maternal and paternal grandparents, niece Dawn Farnham, and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his daughter Amy LaCroix and her children Payton Hayes, Connor and Tanner Brown of Lebanon, three sons Scott LaCroix of Tunbridge, Vermont, David LaCroix and his children Jake, Jessica, and Julia of Virginia, son Kevin LaCroix of Chino Valley, Arizona, two stepdaughters Lisa and her husband Mark Pitkin and their children Brittany and Bryan of Newport, and Jamie and her husband Rod McConnell and their children Alexis and Trevor of Newbury. He is also survived by two stepsisters Donna Long of Mustang, Oklahoma and Cheryl Tetreault of Marlborough, Massachusetts, a half-sister Lisa and her husband William Salter of Marlton, New Jersey and their family, a stepbrother Raymond Cheney and his wife Theresa of Grantham and their family, a brother-in-law James Fleury and his wife Shirley and their family in Claremont, brother-in-law John Fleury of Claremont, In addition, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Pauline and Douglas Gutherie and their family, as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and wonderful cousins.

Family and friends are invited to Buddy’s memorial calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home & Crematory in Lebanon on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon. Buddy’s memorial service will begin at noon at the funeral home with burial to follow in the West Lebanon Cemetery in West Lebanon.
