Virginia Miller NEWPORT — On Thursday, July 22, 2021, Virginia “Ginny” Miller, loving mother of three and proud grandmother and great-grandmother of 19, passed away at the age of 87. Ginny was born on Dec. 15, 1933, to Maxwell and Harriet Sherman as the second of five children. She graduated from Towle High School in Newport, and later married her husband of 48 years, Arthur Miller, on Sept. 13, 1952, and became the stepmother of one daughter. Together, they had two children, Andrew John in 1956 and Coleen Ann in 1958. Over the years, Ginny worked in a shoe shop, a dress shop as a seamstress, and later as a CNA for the VNA. Ginny’s love of the ocean was second only to her love for her family and friends. Ginny was predeceased by her mother and father; her husband; her brothers, Max and Herbie; and several beloved nephews. She is survived by her three children, Sherry, Andy and Coleen; her siblings, Janice, Evie and Cliff; as well as her 19 grand- and great-grandchildren; and various nieces, nephews and cousins. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service. Her burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery at 3 p.m. the following day. She will be missed.
