10122021 Bellows Falls' Sadie Scott

Bellows Falls’ Sadie Scott gets a shot off during the Terriers’ 5-2 win over Otter Valley on Friday.

Bellows Falls field hockey standout Sadie Scott scored at about the 10-minute mark after a bit of back-and-forth play to get the Terriers going.

Grace Wilkinson followed that up with a score of her own with 5:46 left in the first quarter.

Otter Valley responded with a long ball goal that was able to get by Bellows Falls defenders as time was winding down in the second quarter.

After halftime, the Terriers came back out, passed the ball well and made adjustments to try and block up Otter Valley’s long ball style of play. Sadie Scott scored her second goal of the game about two and a half minutes into the third quarter as Bellows Falls entered the fourth quarter leading 3-1.

With about nine minutes left in the game Emma Bazin was able to pick up a rebound off the Otter Valley’s goalie, who had 12 strong saves and lifted a ball over the goalie between her and the goal post. Otter Valley would grab one back scored off of an amazing corner play.

“It was beautiful, ice out, cross and deflection in,” said Bellows Falls coach Bethany Coursen.

With about one and a half minutes left Grace Bazin scored off of a hit from Maya Waryas to ice the game and keep the Terriers’ season perfect.

Bellows Falls goalie Jaia Caron recorded two saves.

Bellows Falls will host Hartford at home on Tuesday as they needed overtime to defeat Hartford on the road last month in the final seconds, this should be a good one.
