The Fall Mountain men’s Nordic team took second place and the women’s took ninth place in the NHIAA Division II State Championship at Great Glen Trails, Gorham, on March 8.
Sophomore David Northcott finished third in the Classic race in the morning with a time of 12:45.1. Junior Ben Frithsen finished 11th place at 13:48.6, and Junior Ben Tetu came in 18th at 14:34.1. Sophomore Braydon Patch was 44th with a time of 16:36.8.
At the Freestyle race in the afternoon, Northcott got another podium with a second-place score of 10:41.8. Frithsen got 11:41.3 for a 10th-place finish. Tetu finished at 12:00.1 for 16th place, and Patch rounded out the scoring team with a 13:41.9 for 42nd place.
William Riley, Belmont, won both races and traveled to Northcott to Fairbanks, AK to represent New England at the USSA Junior National Cross-Country Ski Championship this week.
For the Wildcats women’s team, freshmen Cerys Gascoyne got 18:02.5 for a 27th-place finish in the Classic race and 15:39.4 for 32nd place in Freestyle. Junior Anna Lloyd took 29th place in the Classic with a time of 18:12.3 and 25th in Freestyle, with a time of 14:47.3. Kelly Ranta was 48th in Classic with 23:20.2 and 50th in Freestyle with 19:26.5.
