WINDSOR, Vt. — The Yellow Jackets opened their post season with two wins on Tuesday as both the girls soccer team and football teams hosted home playoff games.
Windsor 6, Mill River 0
Jeff Bachey’s Lady Jack’s were all business on Tuesday as they controlled the game from start to finish walking away with a 6-0 win.
“We are filled with confidence and this group is adjusting on the fly,” Bachey said. “We need to keep giving our best effort and today we played a solid 80 minutes, now we wait until Saturday.”
That confidence began early and often with three post hits and a goal disallowed but when Elliot Rupp found the back of the net, the Jacks were off and running. Mill Riber’s outstanding goalie, Malori Carlson was spectacular in net but when but when it was all over, Rupp and Evelyn Page each ended up with goals as Windsor punched their ticket to a quarter finals game.
“We played our game today and we will keep moving forward, everyone clicked today and we will adjust to whatever other teams throw at us, it feels good to grab a win and I’m looking forward to Saturday” Rupp said.
Windsor (9-1) will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between White River Valley and BFA Fairfax in Windsor on Saturday.
Windsor 48, Springfield 13
Windsor flew past the Cosmos on Tuesday as they had six different players find the end zone.
The Yellow Jackets would grab an early lead with a Jordan Place toss to Caden Lockwood but Springfield would answer right back when Sam Presch found Luke Stocker for a 25-yard score.
The speedy Jacks would find paydirt on a regular basis as Maison Fortin’s 85 yard bomb to Ben Gilbert highlighted a 28 point half for Windsor. Windsor and Springfield would trade incredible diving receptions in the end zone in the second half as Auistin Gauld’s grab for Windsor was matched by an impressive catch by the Cosmos Christopher Jeffers but it was just too much Windsor speed as the Yellow Jackets will head to Hartford for a game under the lights on Friday.
